Arizona’s stretch of Route 66 is one of the most picturesque along the route. From volcanoes to painted deserts to lush green forests, the journey provides numerous scenic photograph opportunities, a wealth of history, great side trips, and a volume of Route 66-era icons.
In 1926, some 400 miles of Route 66 passed through Arizona, but very little was paved. That changed in 1933, and it was finally completed in 1938.
Enjoy your beautiful journey through the Grand Canyon State.
